AMS Trex device Communicator: Emerson Automation Solutions
If you are looking for something to help you set up your HART and FF devices, you can look no further. But that’s not all! This tool is loop-powered and offers to check field diagnostics as well. The AMS Trex from Emerson is a next-gen handheld with some great specs. Let’s take a quick tour…
The device comes with a 5.7-inch touch-screen at 1.33 kilograms with a well-made display and menu design. It comes in two versions- one that offers essential communication and one that provides power generation and current measurement. The wireless, Bluetooth and USB connection options for data transfer are pretty great.
Additionally, the AMS Trex comes with a monitoring app called the ValveLink. This diagnoses the health of your valves. Furthermore, it comes with the software-upgrade studio to install firmware and device descriptions when required. On the whole, the device is a good choice as a HART and FF handheld with its single cable feature and communication perks.
Field Xpert SMT70: Endress+Hauser
The SMT70 comes with some brilliant possibilities in a compact tablet. As a tablet, it feels more reliable than a standard handheld. At first look, the tablet has an 11.6” display and enough battery potency to last up to 14 hours.
The SMT70 is a mini computer with an Intel Core i5 processor and 8 gigs of RAM. With these dimensions, it is fairly easy to carry around and is quite portable. While most handhelds only support HART or HART+FF, this one goes beyond that. The SMT70 can communicate with HART, FF, Modbus, and PROFIBUS as well.
The device comes with approvals from IECEx and ATEX, and with housing protection of IP65. Therefore, it can be deployed in harsh environments. Also, the device is 4G enabled with wireless and Bluetooth options, along with two USB 3.0 ports for fast data transfer. In a nutshell, it is a pocket rocket!
Beamex MC6: Beamex
The MC6 from Beamex enters the league not only as a handheld but as a calibrator as well. It makes a reasonably good first impression with its ability to read, test, and calibrate different devices easily. It comes with an external feature of data logging that lets you test devices and check out process variables.
Another perk is that the MC6 is a loop-powered device. This means it can communicate and generate power using the same cable. The device lets you interact with HART, FF, and PROFIBUS PA, which would cover most applications.
It comes with a 5.7” touch-screen and weighs 1.5 kilos. The reason it’s this heavy is because it comes with a battery life of 16 hours. Moreover, the device comes with a degree of protection of IP65. With various user interface modes such as meter, calibrator, data logger, communicator and more, the MC6 from Beamex is just the right fit!
DPI 620 Genii: GE
The DPI 620 is a multifunctional device that can substitute a calibrator, field communicator and a test meter altogether. It is quite compact, weighing around half a kilogram (600 grams, to be precise). Despite its compactness, it has an LCD touch display and a well-made menu system that is easy to navigate. It even comes with an internal memory of 4GB, a 8GB micro SD and a battery that lasts for 12 hours of continuous use!
Also, the device can communicate with HART, FF and PROFIBUS protocols and to make things easier, the DPI 620 is loop-powered as well. The device has a modular system, so you can add new functions to it while using it as a calibrator.
It comes with some interesting options, like the Analysis feature and Run Procedure to simplify things for you. The Analysis feature lets you set up a channel as reference and compare it with a field device, the difference in deviation is shown in %span or %range, with the result as ‘pass’ or ‘fail.’ The Run Procedure means you don’t have to do the same sequence manually again and again. Instead, it will setup a procedure as per your transmitter!
The YHC5150X differs from the other handhelds in its design, and makes a quick good impression. At a compact size and weighing less than a kilogram, the device comes with a decent LCD touch-screen, a micro SD of 64GB, and a 4GB internal memory.
The YHC5105X is a flagship product from the FieldMate, and comes with a full field protocol configurational tool that can communicate through HART protocol. Additionally, with its Windows Embedded CE based system, the device is quick in processing information and has ample storage space, too.
Interestingly, this handheld has a feature to save configurations and transfer them to multiple devices when required. Also, it can integrate itself into your plant asset management software. With its external calibrator, it proves very useful for multitasking.
In a nutshell…
Are you still confused about deciding which tool is best for your applications? Well, you should be. Every device is unique and has a lot of ingenious solutions to your problems. So, before you choose one, make sure you know it in and out. Happy shopping!
