The ATT2100 has a housing similar to other brands on the market, but it doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel, right? Its housing has two separate access points, one to the wiring and the other to the electronics.
If you don’t have a handheld, the device has two buttons below the identification plate to set up locally, much like a high-end transmitter. The simple display shows the process variable and a few other things, but it doesn’t have a backlight. You can get the ATT2100 in low-copper aluminum or stainless steel, and the sensor can integrate directly into the device or remotely.
On the yellow side, the LI-24ALW doesn’t have a fancy design, just a beautiful color! Jokes aside, the device offers a local LCD with push buttons, but unfortunately, those buttons are not touchscreen. You also need to open the housing to access the configuration. The configuration seems simple but could use a better display and manual.
The display gives you process data, alarms, the percentage of the range or the output values in milliamps, and the setup menu. Plus it has the backlight the ATT2100 lacks. The LI-24ALW has two housing materials, aluminum and stainless steel, and you can also install the sensor directly in the transmitter or remotely.
The ATT2100 is simpler than the LI-24ALW. You can connect only one sensor, but you still get the standard options – thermocouple, resistance temperature detector (RTD), resistance, and millivolts.
Its input supports the Pt 100 (with two, three, and four wires) and a long list of thermocouple types (B, E, J, K, N, R, S, T). For millivolts, you get between -10 to 75, and resistance from 0 to 340 ohms. If you don’t need two sensors to create an average, redundancy, or similar setup, the ATT2100 may still fit your application.
On the other side, the LI-24ALW is a bit more flexible. It supports up to two sensors and can read the same kinds as the ATT2100. It also has a long sensor list, but a relevant point to highlight is the range of RTDs here. The ATT2100 just has the Pt 100, but the Aplisens device supports Pt 10, Pt 100, Pt 200, Pt 1000, and more.
The range of resistance and voltage is higher too, with resistance 1 from 0 to 400 ohms and resistance 2 from 0 to 2000 ohms. On the voltage, the first input supports from -10 to 100 millivolts and the second from -100 to 1000 millivolts.
Field protocol and output
No seamless integration here! Both devices have only analog and HART. Sure, most applications still use those, but with so many companies going digital, these guys may get left behind.
You can try a converter, but I don’t recommend it as a good alternative. If you have a PROFIBUS network, then these devices may work in a HART over PROFIBUS application, but only if you have that structure already in place. Otherwise, you’ll probably spend more than necessary and would benefit from reviewing other brands. We’ve covered a few already, if you want to check those out.
Performance and approvals
The ATT2100 has approvals to work in hazardous areas, but the device is only explosion-proof. You can choose Korean or Canadian approval for intrinsic applications or approvals for flameproofing and waterproofing. However, the manual has little information on these, and the datasheet directs you to contact the company. Why?
The accuracy for these devices will depend on your sensor. For example, a Pt 100 with a measuring range from -200 to 650 degrees Celsius has a digital accuracy of +-0.16 degrees Celsius in the ATT2100. If you pick a type-K thermocouple with a measuring range from -200 to 1350 degrees Celsius, the digital accuracy is +-0.35 degrees Celsius.
The LI-24ALW has explosion-proof (ATEX) and intrinsic safety certificates (ATEX, IECEx). It also has an IP67 rating and more options in the order codes.
On the accuracy topic, you’ll find similar numbers. The Pt 1000 measuring from -200 to 266 degrees Celsius has an accuracy of +-0.03, and the type-T thermocouple from -200 to 400 degrees Celsius has a digital accuracy of +-0.15.

Information and documentation
The English version of the Aplisens website is not okay. You have a copy of the manual on the device page, flash banners, and zero access with phone or tablet. Unless you live in Poland! Polish people get a responsive site and excellent design! How do I know? I misclicked on the Poland icon and found myself on a better website.
The manual and datasheet need work as well. They have too much information crammed into weak layouts.
The Autrol site is a relief in comparison. The design looks better than a lot of competitor sites. But if you go to the device page, it was empty! At least until yesterday, when I posted the ATT2100 product review! And if you click a link, nothing happens. You have to go to tech support to find a link that works. Sad.
The documentation is also good, although it still lags behind the big brands. In general, you can find information without too many issues.
Yes, the ATT2100 is a simple device that will fit an application without too many requirements. But this transmitter could stand a few more protocols and inputs to broaden its range. The LI-24ALW has more than one input, a backlight, and a better sensor range. For the basics, both devices are at the same level. If you need more sensors and inputs, then check out the LI-24ALW.
