Today’s device, the EcoCloud from Proteus, can bring your process into the 21st century. If you don’t know much about cloud solutions, I recommend some articles we have here at Visaya.
This level transmitter can measure your tank and send its data to a cloud server so you can access it anywhere. Let’s dive into the specifications and see where we can fit this device in your process.

Whatcha got there?
Have you ever seen a security camera? Because the EcoCloud looks like that to me. It has no cables, no display, no interface – just the process connection and that’s it.
If you want a plug-and-play device, then you’ll like this one. You don’t have to configure the Ecocloud at all, because the vendor sets it up for your application. So you just install it and go.
On the other hand, if you want the ability to move your level device to a different application someday, then you’ll want to make a different choice, unless your new application is exactly like your old one.
To access the data from your device, you need to go a specific website and log in using your email address and password. Then you need to fill in the IMEI number of your device, located on the sticker on the back of it.
What can it do?
The EcoCloud uses the ultrasonic working principle to measure your product level. However, the vendor specifies fuel oil tanks and water tanks. If you have a different product, then you need to check for material compatibility and necessary approvals as well as whether ultrasonics can work in your process.
It can measure up to three meters and checks your level hourly. Then it stores this data and updates the cloud once a day. As for installation, you can fit it in one-and-a-quarter-inch, one-and-a-half-inch, or two-inch threaded holes.
One important note – you need a good GSM signal where you’ll install the device, as it uses GSM to connect to the cloud. It comes with its own SIM card, so as long as you have that GSM signal and the threaded hole in your tank, you can truly plug it in and play.
Why should I care?
Even though the EcoCloud offers remote monitoring and cloud storage, it has a competitive price, and you can buy it online. The web portal you’ll use to check the daily data has a responsive, user-friendly interface, which means you can even check it on your smartphone.
The device offers two years of battery life, and you can change it on your own. Beyond the level data, you’ll receive battery status alarms and low-level warnings.
If an ultrasonic level transmitter can work in your application, then check this one out. You’ll get remote monitoring and cloud storage from a cost-effective plug-and-play device. If you want a device with a bit more flexibility, then you can find similar models on the right side of this page.
