Choosing the option “Frequency output scaling” in the Micro Motion menu will define an important relationship between two process variables. Those process variables are frequency output source and the pulse of the frequency output.
When you go through the frequency output scaling method, you’re going to find three different options to set up the flow meter. So, the first option is frequency=flow. This option is the standard option of the flow meter.
Basically, frequecy=flow means that you can customize the frequency output when you don’t have the correct values for the application. The technical manual provides a calculation to find out the frequency calculated from the flow rate.
The second option is pulse/unit. This means that the user can define the number of pulses that represents one flow unit in the Micro Motion 5700.
Last but not least, you’re going to have the option to set up the output based on the units/pulse. So the third option is the opposite of the second option. Here, the pulse will represent a specified number of the flow unit and not only one flow unit.
