Expert’s answer: ProLink and Smart Meter Verification

Using your ProLink and Smart Meter Verification shouldn’t be too big a hassle. First of all, you need to connect the ProLink with the Coriolis, using the Modbus. Then, you need the interface for the RS-485 communication between your laptop and your field device. Usually, Emerson will provide a Black Box to connect them.

Now, you need to set up the basics, like the protocol, baud rate, parity, and stop bits. You also need access to the Smart Meter Verification report and the license for the ProLink.

If you want, you can use the HART communication to make your connection, but usually you’ll do it with the Modbus. The ProLink manual has a list of devices supported by Modbus and HART communication.
