Expert’s answer: Vortex requirements
Good question, Vortex requirements can be a puzzle! So you can use a vortex flow meter to measure liquid, gas or steam. You need to know the chemical compatibility and the temperature of the process to use the meter properly.
Also, the vortex needs a minimum velocity. In 70 percent of vortex applications, you need to reduce the line size to get that velocity. Fortunately, you can find vortex flow meters with integrated reduction of the line size.
However, the reduction of the line size will create a pressure loss. If your application can tolerate that loss, then you’re in business! If not, then you may need to find another device that provides a smaller loss.
