It can be tricky to know where to install a temperature sensor in a pipe. The temperature can vary depending on the amount of the measured product. Also, the temperature near the wall will differ from the temperature at the center of the pipe.

Installing a temperature sensor
You can install temperature sensors in many ways. The manual from the manufacturer normally will show you the best locations as well as correct immersion length for better results, if not contact them.
Also, you need to consider the distance from the pump to the transmitter. That means you have to stay within a range to get a uniform profile of a single-phase fluid.
If you are in doubt and can’t find more information, we recommend that you install your sensor in the center of the pipe for the most accurate and consistent readings.
