First, we’ll stick to our tradition of commenting on the device design. SenZ2 doesn’t follow market standard, but believe me, this could be a good thing for you.
This compact device has a very minimalist design, just a small blue box with no local display. You’ll do all the configuration remotely. Furthermore, its internal battery offers quick installation and a cable-free experience.
Speaking of which, if you want to use this device, you’ll need a strong signal in your area. It sends all of its data wirelessly with no backup options, so do your research!
Also, it works using frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar technology. Rather than check the signal’s time of flight, it analyzes how the signal’s frequency changes as it returns.
What can it do?
It can measure the level of various products in many segments, such as wastewater and chemical plants, up to five meters. Its measuring range seems a bit limited compared to other brands, but it still has a broad range of applications.
It also offers four installation options. You can slide and lock it to a bracket, stick it to a surface with 3M tape, drill two holes and bolt it on, or use a strap-down system.
Locally, you have a multi-colored LED to provide basic function data – full, order new, empty, and replace. But without any user interface to set it up, how do you turn it on? It has an internal activation switch, so you’ll swipe the back of the device to get started. Check the manual for more details.
Once you activate it, you’ll need a username and login for the portal to set it up. In general, the procedure is simple, and the portal looks like it should give you a smooth user experience.
Lest we forget the other details, it can handle -1 to 2 bar of pressure and -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. It has a blind spot of +-250 mm, but it also has an integrated thermometer, accelerometer, and GPS receiver.
Why should I care?
Because it looks fairly budget-friendly and hands you an easy way to remotely monitor your levels. Lots of solutions out there offer far more complexity, but sometimes simple is better.
Furthermore, it works in the 60 GHz ISM frequency band with a beam angle of 12 degrees. You can read our article on radar devices to understand more about beam angles. As for its battery life, the documents claim around five years for certain setups, and the website says one to 10 years, also depending on the setup. So it depends on your setup.
Its accuracy is +-2 mm, and it offers up to 24 messages a day and up to 96 measurements a day. Last but not least, it can store 10,000 logged measurements.
The wireless level radar from SenZ2 is a good option on the market for a remote monitoring system. If you need to measure levels for chemicals, waste, feed, and other products, then this device may work well for you.
