I need to set up a DP-Style 266DSH from ABB in a level measurement. Could you tell me how to set up the device and what information I need to do that?
Okay, let’s dive into the setup procedure! You didn’t mention the protocol, for your DP-Style 266DSH so I’ll treat it like a HART device. If you have another protocol, let us know!
You have to install your device correctly because improper installation can cause errors in your measurement. Of course, we want to avoid that.
If you have an open tank, then you must make sure you align the device. You’ll also need to remove the air in the transmitter to prevent extra damping in the measurement. For that, you have the drain or vent in the transmitter which will do the job.
If your installation has a seal pot, then you’ll need to check the level of the seal pot too. The same process applies if you have a closed tank, where you have both sides of the transmitter connected to the tank.
In the DP-Style 266DSH manual, you can go to the mounting section and find recommendations for different scenarios. Click here and see page 26.
Setting up the DP-Style 266DSH
Your device might have the optional local display, with push buttons that allow a local setup. If you don’t have that, then you need to set up using HART communication through a tool like a handheld or tablet.
Whether you use the display or a tool, the setup is pretty much the same. When you open the configuration menu, you can select EASY SETUP and fill in the options with the necessary information. The default setup will ask for the following:
- PV unit
- PV lower and upper range values
- Linearization type
You must input this data correctly for the DP-Style 266DSH to measure correctly. Once you set up, drain, and check the installation, you can do the zero trim adjust in the zero condition. If you want a more advanced configuration, you can go to DEVICE SETUP to change more items such as damping and cut off.
