How to set up KROHNE IFC 100 measurement range

Flow Q&A

I am new in the instrumentation world, and I need to set up a new transmitter model IFC 100 converter from Krohne. Could you support me with the basic step by step to configure that?

Expert’s answer

Okay then, let’s start from the beginning, the  IFC 100 installation! If you don’t stick to the requirements, you can lose accuracy or your flow meter may not even work. So follow the guidelines!

In this case, the IFC 100 converter can work with OPTIFLUX or WATERFLUX sensors from DN2.5 up to DN1200. You’ll need to look at the sensor manual, but you can click here and see an example.

You’ll also need an inlet run of two or three dimensions and an outlet run of more than two DN. Make sure you check the other recommendations too, such as conditions for bent pipes or pumps or whatever.

Setup procedure

If you have the IFC 100 installed correctly, then you can go to the transmitter to set up the range, unit, output, and so on. The IFC 100 has a local display with an easy-to-navigate interface, but you can use a handheld if you prefer.

The interface has four buttons: up, down, return, and enter. If you need to go back, then enter+up will let you escape. Now, each option behaves differently in each menu, so take a look at this table to get the hang of it:

If you want to get right to it, pick the quick setup option in the menu. You’ll need to set up the language, tag, and outputs. For instance, if you want analog output, then you need the type of measurement (volume flow, flow speed, etc.), unit, and measuring range based on the unit.

You’ll also need to set up the flow cutoff and the time constant. Last but not least, you can set up digital output and process input, but you need to see if your device has those options available. And that should do it! Good luck!
