Problems when installing magnetic flow meter?

Flow Q&A

We need to cut a concrete sewer pipe and install a magnetic flow meter suitable for partially filled pipes. Can you foresee any problems with this installation? Will I need earthing rings?

Expert’s answer: Problems when installing magnetic flow meter?

So, you want to know if there might be problems when installing magnetic flow meter? Let’s set the earthing rings aside for a moment, compadre. You know what you really need? Full pipes. Hate to say it, but most vendors recommend ’em for their magmeters. They don’t do it out of prissiness, either; if you want accurate numbers, then you need full pipes. Now don’t panic. You can change your  installation in a number of ways to get your pipe to spec.

You need a good inlet and outlet run too if you want good values. In both of these cases, vendors know best. Unless they’re trying to sell you solutions to “fix” your setup. Then take their advice with a grain of salt, y’hear?

Now, do you need earthing rings, AKA ring grounds? Maybe not, but better safe than sorry, right? Use ’em if you got ’em. Consider getting some if you don’t got ’em.
