Maximum temperatures of Promag P 300

Flow Q&A

Hey, I'm looking for a new magmeter for my application. I am already a little bit familiar with some of the flow meters from Endress+Hauser. Could you tell me the temperature range support by the PROMAG P 300?

Expert’s Answer: Maximum temperature of PROMAG P 300

I could give you a more accurate answer if I knew the range of your application. Fear not, I’ll answer your question based on general information.

Endress+Hauser has different types of sensors to fit in various segments and applications. Depending on your process information you can choose a sensor with a smaller or larger range. The price of course will reflect the size you choose.

For example, the PROMAG H is a sensor made for hygienic applications. This sensor is best to use in compliance with specific hygienic requirements for when the flow meter comes into contact with fluid. Further, you can have different kinds of process connections and approvals related to the transmitter or sensor. This sensor, in particular, can support high temperatures as well.

The PROMAG P 300 is a very flexible device. It is fit for applications where you may have requirements like ATEX, IECEX and so on. Beyond that, this Endress+Hauser flow meter has 3 different kinds of liners. Each liner is made for different temperature ranges. Just as a quick recap, the liners are the coating material in the sensor. Liners are the part that is in constant contact with the process fluid.

Liner Options

I will take minute here and break down each liner. First let’s discuss the PFA liner. This liner allows the flow meter to support a temperature range from – 20 to 150 degrees Celsius. Secondly there is a liner with a special type of PFA material that extends the temperature range to -20 to 180 degrees Celsius. Last but not least, the PTFE liners allows for support in the lower range of temperatures, from -40 to 130 degrees Celsius.

The transmitter model 300 compatible with H and P sensors. Although, the PROMAG E 100 offers more standard temperature support. If your temperature ranges are less extreme and fall within the PROMAG E 100’s range you can choose this option over the PROMAG P 300.
