Could you explain the basic requirements to apply a radar and how the principle works?

Well, it certainly has nothing to do with the weather! For some reason, everyone thinks weather when they talk about radar stuff. Here, we talk about level measurement! In this case, time of flight measurement, so the measurement uses the time of flight (TOF) method. Let’s dig in!

The TOF method measures the level by recording how long it takes for a high-frequency signal from the antenna to pass through a medium and return, like an echo… echo… echo…. The product has to have a minimum dielectric constant (DC), although a product with a high DC will reflect a clearer pulse. On the other hand, a product with low DC values will absorb the signal. Got it?

So the radar jots down a note on how long took the pulse to come back, then whips out its calculator and translates the time delay into the level measurement! That’s it! That’s all, folks!
