Temperature loop transmitter?
I have a temperature loop system where I am receiving all information from the field directly into the PLC without a transmitter, It means that PLC is reading the RTD and thermocouple directly. Is there any advantage to apply a transmitter in the field?
Expert’s answer: Temperature loop transmitter?
If you decide to go digital, then you’ll definitely benefit from having a temperature loop transmitter. So with a digital protocol, you can read diagnostics. Plus, you can also read process values from your measurement points.
Wireless solutions help in temperature monitoring too. That’s because a multichannel transmitter can update you in seconds.
Plus, it also has a long battery life. If you use a thermocouple, then you’ll probably spend more on maintenance and implementation than if you use wireless or digital wired communication.
Speaking of maintenance:
With digital, your devices will send you data that can help you avoid unplanned downtimes in your plant. Several metal companies use wireless systems now because they had a lot of problems with cables.
And so far, wireless has solved those problems.
