We're implementing a new wirelessHART network in my plant, and it's my first time using this kind of technology. Could you go through the basic configuration with me?
Expert’s answer: WirelessHART configuration basics
Of course! WirelessHART devices all follow the same rules, so it’ll be easy to set up your WirelessHART configuration. First, connect the gateway with an Ethernet cable. Normally the gateway has a standard IP but if not, you can use software to find the IP. When you find the IP, open the web server and write it in the browser.
You’ll need a username/password (Admin/Admin or Admin/Default) for full access to the Network ID and Join Key configurations. Remember or take notes on what you do here, because you’ll need to do it again when you go to the field devices. After setting up and naming the network, head for the field devices!
Using a handheld or a laptop, go through the configuration using a HART interface, giving the same details (Network ID, Join Key, and a new field device tag). After that, your device should communicate with the gateway. Of course, you’ll still need to set the devices for correct process measurement, but once you establish communication among the devices and gateway, you can do all that remotely. Happy connecting!
