Hannover Messe 2017 – Final recap #HM17 #VisayaHM17

Yep, last day of Hannover Messe! We had a good five days of this fair. We also have great visions for the future of the industry and high hopes that most of these concepts will hit the market soon.

As the largest industrial fair in the world, Hannover Messe makes for a good place to lose weight, because you have to walk a lot! Yeah, we had shuttles, but sometimes walking is faster than waiting for the bus. Next year, I’ll wear my sneakers. I had my fancy kicks and believe me, those five days felt like forever. In fact, maybe I’ll get a scooter. On the other hand, it was good exercise. I’ll sleep on it. After all, I have another year to decide.

Anyway, we created 6 recaps plus the live page with almost 300 tweets. Beyond that, we also posted videos and other articles before the fair. Tons of content to keep you updated on all the new rollouts, for sure. And if you think we’re done, then think again! We still have new videos with interviews to launch and slides with pictures and stuff too. Stay tuned!

Overall, we can say the industry has an eye on our digital future. However, we have yet to see any consensus about integration. Vendors make lots of claims, but we still see closed doors here.

In our first day, we saw AR glasses that let you check your devices remotely. We definitely want more of this trend.

That day, we also viewed SAP’s approach to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), which seemed powerful and interesting.

That night, we enjoyed the opening ceremony. Hannover Messe had some amazing organization, so the opening went well.

PROCENTEC launched its new Atlas device. It can run diagnostics through a tablet, smartphone, or laptop so you can avoid downtime.

Microsoft offered its superb hololens to interact with field devices. We saw some brands with virtual reality (VR) and others in augmented reality (AR). I think AR feels more realistic. How about you?

Endress+Hauser featured its new magmeter, the Picomag. It has a good design and display for flow and temperature data.

Then we visited Pepperl+Fuchs with its ECOM portfolio. The company bought ECOM recently and wasted no time bringing it on board.

Yokogawa had one device taking measurements, then sending that data to a Microsoft Azure cloud through a 3G network.

Endress+Hauser had two IIoT solutions. The first used RFID tags to collect data for the cloud. And the second ran diagnostics from the cloud, so you can check devices remotely.

We also got to test DAQRI’s VR. So amazing! I saw all the details of a 3D device, then did a virtual checkup. I also used the thermoview to see the temperature of things and people around me!

Pepperl+Fuchs focused on wireless solutions. SAP drives its IIoT ideas by partnering with different companies. So Pepperl+Fuchs, Endress+Hauser, and other brands have joined the SAP crew.

And can’t miss the Brazilian PRESYS! PRESYS’s handhelds simulate field and sensor signals and read device data.

GE had a great booth too, with all-digital products to give us a nice view of the future.

Beckhoff connected with Microsoft for an IIoT package that lets you check the status of your machine and materials.

And that’s it! Thanks for following us this week, and we hope to see you at Hannover Messe 2018 #HM18. I’d also like to say good job to the entire Visaya Solutions team! We created a lot of content in an intense week. Well done, my friends. 🙂
